CARBON CAPTURE & STORAGE
Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) has the potential to assist in combating global warming. By capturing CO2 emissions and storing them deep underground, CCS enables the continued use of coal while limiting future environmental impacts. Viable reservoirs for carbon storage are being investigated and could include, for example, depleted oil fields, unutilised coal seams, saline aquifers, and the emptychambers left after the completion of a UCG project.
The Rudd Government has committed $2.4 billion to low emissions technologies, including funding for industrial-scale CCS projects. Liberty is a member of the Global CCS Institute, a not for profit organisation accelerating the worldwide commercial deployment of CCS.
